We describe the life and scientific accomplishments of Professor Raymond Hide. He was a past President Royal Meteorological Society supreme example geophysicist much honoured in his lifetime. covered wide area geophysics from geomagnetism, meteorology, geodesy, oceanography related aspects planetary physics. Hide particularly known meteorology as founding father geophysical fluid dynamics, especially for experiments using rotating cylindrical annulus to study atmospheric dynamics.
